You've probably heard of the RNLI or Mountain Rescue but you may not have heard of Kent Search & Rescue who provide specially trained search teams, to search for vulnerable missing persons such as children and elderly people across Kent.
Kent Search & Rescue are currently recruiting volunteer support members to help with public awareness and fundraising.
Kent Search & Rescue have over 100 operational members but we now desperately need more Support Members. These "KSAR Champions" help us by raising awareness and raising money. We are often asked to talk about our work or are given the opportunity to raise money at events but operational requirements mean we cannot attend.
If you can give a couple of hours a month (or more) are 18-100 yrs old and are able to travel independently then we would love to hear from you. We'll give you everything you need. From shaking a tin at your local supermarket to telling a local community group about the work we do - it all helps ! Get in touch today
Over 10,000 people are reported missing in Kent each year. Approximately 360 of these are classed as 'high risk'. In the most serious of cases, the Police will call for KSAR assistance. In 2013 KSAR were called out 72 times - nearly 1.5x every week.
