Following stiff competition, the Sittingbourne in Bloom Committee have awarded Mr and Mrs Watson from Hobart Gardens first prize in this year’s Summer Front Garden Competition.

Every front garden in the town was looked at by a team of judges drawn from the In Bloom Committee, the Sittingbourne Society, the Gardeners and Flower Arrangers Society, Sittingbourne and Milton Rotary Club, Sittingbourne Lions and town residents.

The final judging was carried out by the In Bloom Committee Chairman, Malcolm Moore and Swale in Bloom Co-ordinator, Ali Corbel.

Commenting on this year's competition, Malcolm Moore , In Bloom Chairman, said "Because of – or even in spite of - this season’s unusual weather conditions, the town’s gardeners have once again put on a fantastic show. Not only were the gardens some of the best we’ve ever seen, there were also far more good gardens than in recent years. And it is gratifying to see so many new gardens in the list.”

“The long list of Highly Commended and Commended gardens reflects the overall quality of the gardens this year and Sittingbourne’s gardeners are to be congratulated on another outstanding year. On behalf of the In Bloom Committee I would like to thank all the winners whose efforts help to make Sittingbourne a brighter and more colourful place in which to live and work”.

The trophies and certificates will be presented at the annual Sittingbourne In Bloom prize-giving evening to be held in the Fulston Manor School Millennium Hall, Brenchley Road, on Tuesday 3rd October 2017.
