Christmas Tree Festival

Some seventeen bookings have currently been received for the first ever Christmas Tree Festival at Sittingbourne's St Michael's church this coming weekend.
There may even be some further bookings from interested organisations and businesses that have not yet confirmed they will be exhibiting. Amongst those who are taking part are Chalkwell Coaches, Electroquip and Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
The High Street church will be open for the public to enjoy the Christmas tree displays from 10am until 4pm on both Friday November 28th and Saturday November 29th.
The date was specially chosen to tie in with the town's Christmas lights switch on celebrations in the High Street. On the Saturday there will also be stalls selling Christmas themed items and an appearance (at 1.30pm) of local singing group Cantiana, who will be singing a selection of Christmas songs and carols from their forthcoming Christmas programme.
A raffle will also take place over both days with prizes including bottles of wine and vouchers from Sittingbourne Greyhounds and local supermarkets Morrisons and Co-Operative.
Organising team member Joy Kiley said: "This is a great opportunity for the businesses and organisations in the community to demonstrate to what they have to offer. It is a really exciting way of celebrating that the church is at the heart of the community."
Admission to the event is free.
