Funding Boost for Milton Regis Court Hall
The Friends of Milton Regis Court Hall are today celebrating the news that they has received a £18,500.00 funding award from SITA Trust for 'The Milton Regis Court Hall Project'.
A structural survey of the Hall was conducted for Swale Borough Council in February 2013. It showed that some £20,000 was needed for urgent and important structural repairs. Other less serious repairs (cosmetic) were also required. Funding will allow the initial, urgent and important, repairs to commence.
Dr Michael Baldwin, the Chairman of The Friends of Milton Regis Court Hall, said “The Court Hall is at the very heart of Milton Regis. This generous grant will make it possible to carry out the first major renovation work there since the 1960’s. There are lots of faults with the building which must be rectified to make it safe and secure. It has lasted since 1450, and SITA Trust has secured its future. We are delighted.”
Marianne Ivin of SITA Trust added “The Court hall is a really interesting building and one that stands out from the crowd. We are delighted to be able to help secure the future of the building and to enable its history to be available for future generations to enjoy. SITA Trust provides grants through the Landfill Communities Fund. This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and has provided such worthy projects with more than £1.4 billion.”
