Popular local band Marylebone Jelly who hosted a ‘Back 2 School’ themed gig back in September at UKP Leisure managed to raise an incredible £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

On Saturday evening a small presentation took place at UKP Leisure where band members presented a cheque for £1000 to Macmillan Cancer Support's Medway Treasurer, Margaret Meinertzhagen.

Margaret Meinertzhagen told us “Macmillan’s funds are important in the battle against cancer, providing individual support, research, nursing care and of course coping with Government cutbacks. The donation will help people living with cancer to receive the support they need.”

Asked why in particular the band opted to support Macmillan, Bass player Saul said “Unfortunately various members of the band have been directly affected by cancer so it’s something we know and care about.”

The band were very keen to say thank you to Sarah White and Mike Farrow from UKP Leisure who supported the event so enthusiastically.
