Girlguiding Epic Danceathon Challenge for Comic Relief
On Sunday Rainbows, Brownies & Guides from Sittingbourne descended on the Best Western Plus Coniston Hotel to take part in the first ever Comic Relief Danceathon in support of Red Nose Day 2015.
The girls, all aged between 5 and 14 joined thousands of other Girlguiding members up and down the country to take part in the special girl-only dance, getting sponsored to take to the dancefloor over a gruelling six hour period.
Under the instruction of Julie Patching of Strictly Fitness and Carla Hazell of Dudes and Divas Dance the girls has the opportunity to learn entire dance routines and Mums and Dads watching on from the side-lines were also invited to join in for the occasional dance.
Division commissioner Lorna Castle told us “We had 101 girls and their families plus lots of leaders who danced, boogied and shimmied for 6 hours.”
“We currently have £632.37 on our just giving page which includes the £171.37 we collected on the day from parents and unsuspecting visitors to the Coniston Hotel who deserve big thanks for being such wonderful hosts and I would also like to thank our instructors Julie Patching and Carla Hazell”
