Nine teams of family, friends and local residents turned out to support 2nd Sittingbourne Guide Family fundraising Quiz Evening. Teams answered 10 rounds of question which include a Guiding round especially written by Guider in Charge, Lesley Taylor.

The Guides from the unit worked hard as runner and waitress keeping all the quizzers fed and hydrated. Jade, aged 16 took the chance to raise money by selling her home baked cakes as part of work toward the Baden-Powell Challenge which is the highest award a Guide can achieve.

The evening was attended by Sittingbourne’s Division Commissioner Lorna Castle who presented the leadership team with a celebration cake baked by a parent to mark the success of the evening!

The event raised £200 which will go toward paying the units annual census bill, Lesley Taylor was heard to say “she deeply grateful for the support and generosity show this evening”.

As one of the Host Leaders, it was a fantastic night.  All the prep, all the work done by the organisers (not me, on drink making duty!) and the great turn out by the friends and families of the Leaders and Guides.  Time flew so quickly, once we got started. The girls did extremely well.  Hall was packed, so empty when everyone gone and we'd all packed up to go home (exhausted as later finish to have more time for the quiz). The cake was nice too!     Some Brownies will know me as Snowy or Marsh, but 'just Jane' for Guides.
