This year the Swale Arts Forum have left 3,000 painted Stones around the Swale area. The idea is for the found stones to be bought to the woods at Oare gunpowder works this Sunday to create a magical installation ‘No Stone Should be left Alone’.
Artists in the Woods which runs from 10-4pm on Sunday 12th June is now in its 8th year. This is a unique event where all artistic forms takeover and transform the woods for a day, bringing a spectacular range of artists, music and installations.
For the last four weeks we have been placing hundreds stones with little eyes in different locations around Swale in the lead up to 'Artists in the Woods'. Anyone who finds a stone should bring it along to the woods with them to create a magical installation 'No stone should be alone'
Artists in the Woods is FREE to the public to visit and there will be FREE workshops and things to see and do along the way!
We have a wonderful camera obscurer, an amazing twelve foot dragon, a clay workshop, painting and creating a wishing tree, real fairies, Pete the Dinosaur, Great Kentspectations Steampunks, Excalibur, Nessie, scouts and jellyfish alien umbrellas, a crashed spaceship, as well as all the usual craft stalls, food and drink, beer tent and lots of different performances ... Plus the TARDIS.
