The Great British Spring Clean, which is now in its seventh year, will run from 25th March to 10th April 2022 and calls on local people to join forces and pledge online to pick a bag of litter, or more, from nearby streets, parks, beauty spots and beaches to protect the community and precious wildlife habitats.

Mr Henderson said:

‘Litter blights our towns and roadsides and spoils our local environment. It is also incredibly expensive, costing local councils hundreds of millions of pounds a year to clear up.

‘With this in mind, I am urging people to take part in the Great British Spring Clean by picking up some litter.

‘If everyone pledges to pick up even just one bag of litter outside their house, it can make a difference in making Sittingbourne and Sheppey a cleaner and greener place to live, work and play.’

Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, said:

‘We are delighted to have the support of Mr Henderson for this year’s Great British Spring Clean.

‘The campaign is a fantastic way for people to connect with nature and one another, while taking serious and immediate action to protect the environment on their doorstep.

‘We are calling on every constituent to help us harness the power of collective environmental action. Whether you commit to pick one bag or 50, every single pledge will help us reach our target and clear many tonnes of litter pollution from our environment.’
