When the very last of the Upchurch brick fields received planning approval for 50 new homes, local resident and author Mike Gunnill was inspired to put pen to paper and make sure that this important local heritage site was recorded for future generations.
The book covers, the boyhood of Francis Drake, the brick fields, Upchurch Pottery, seaplane testing, the lost hamlet of Otterham, Lawrence of Arabia and the people and workers of the area.
The book has original research and photographs, many never seen before, collected from local residents.
The book entitled 'Otterham, Kent - Your Heritage' will be available from December 6th for £6.50 from the Sunburst Bookshop, 21-23 Station Road, Rainham, Kent ME8 7RS Telephone: 01634 310011
