Sittingbourne falls silent once more to remember the fallen

The day commenced with a short service at St Michael's church led by Reverend David Ridley.
This was attended by the King’s representative, Deputy Lieutenant Richard Oldfield DL, Councillor Ben Martin Mayor of Swale, Larissa Reed Chief Executive of Swale Borough Council and Kevin McKenna MP.
Following the service, a parade commenced from St Michael's church and along the High Street before making a final turn into Central Avenue and gathering outside the Sittingbourne town war memorial.
As is tradition the Salvation Army band commenced proceedings followed by a reading from RBL chaplain Pat Tatchell who led the service.
This was followed by the exhortation given by the Mayor of Swale, Cllr Ben Martin and shortly afterwards by the two-minute silence. The relatively short service was followed by more hymns and prayers and finally the national anthem.
The event was concluded with a further short parade, where the Deputy Lieutenant took the salute as the parade past in front of the war memorial.
