The Sittingbourne Society founded in 1977 to keep a watchful eye on developments and campaign for improvements in and around Sittingbourne, presented awards to the Sittingbourne Christmas Lights Association and Sittingbourne Carnival Association at its recent AGM.

Chair of the Christmas Lights Association Catherine Pratt along with committee member Jack Newman-Miller received a cheque for £50. Jack said “the donation is very much appreciated and if anyone else wishes to help they can always join our monthly draw.”

Pam Griggs of the Sittingbourne Carnival Association who also benefited from a £50 award said “I am very grateful for the Society’s continued support.”

The awards didn’t stop there as, John Tyler was awarded the Chairman's Shield for the most outstanding member in recognition of his contribution during the year.

Finally guest speaker Miss Ann Carter gave a well-received talk entitled “Dressed as Queen Victoria” which members found most amusing.
