Today I went to find Dale Howting, more familiar to most as the ‘Whistling Postman’ who very generously agreed to a video interview with Sittingbourne.Me about how he got started and the origin of his ‘Whistling Postman’ nickname amongst other things.

Dale’s has been busy fundraising for an astonishing 37 years and is out every day of the week in Sittingbourne High Street regardless of the weather.

Just approaching his 79th birthday in September he hopes that his fundraising total will reach a staggering £250,000 by the time of his 80th birthday.

He also asked if I could help him find someone who would be able to make a replacement wicker tradesman basket for his bicycle.

Obviously he is willing to pay, but just finding someone who does this or a company that sells such an item is not an easy task.

So if anyone help Dale out, please do let me know by calling 01795 435586 or post a comment below.

Just as I had finished recording this video someone told me that Dale is Sittingbourne and that sums it up very nicely.

Hey loved the interview with Darryl, know him well, he emigrated out to australia, just before we did in 1970, but they went back to uk. had lots of fun here together. Last time i saw Darryl was in 1993 when we came back to sittingbourne for a holiday, still whistling, please give him our best regards and happy birthday to him.
