The Sittingbourne Society founded in 1977 to keep a watchful eye on developments and campaign for various improvements in and around Sittingbourne, has presented three local good causes with cheques and a rather impressive trophy.
The main award of the evening was the Society Rose Bowl presentation to Lynda Marshall and Ed Courtney of the Friends of Milton Creek Country Park (they also received a cheque for £500 a new bench for the park from the John George Jordan Bequest fund).
Ian Beales of the Christmas Lights Association collected a cheque for £50
And last but not least, Pam Griggs of the Sittingbourne Carnival Association also collected a cheque for £50.

As President of the Sittingbourne Society I was delighted that we could again support the Carnival and Christmas lights organisations with donations to assist them in their enterprises for Sittingbourne's benefit.
The Rose Bowl is not presented every year but we felt that the Milton Creek Country Park are providing a useful facility for the town so richly deserved this award. We were also able to provide them with funds to provide four benches in the park from the John Jordan Bequest which the Society administers.
