Unbelievably, I've just walked into a certain card shop in Sittingbourne High Street to buy a birthday card and to my utter dismay was immediately confronted with a huge display of Christmas Cards, how depressing.
I realise that those involved in the retail sector need to be plan significantly in advance of the various festive seasons, but honestly do we really want to buy Christmas Cards during our Summer holidays.
I just don’t get it, do we actually buy more cards or whatever product it is, simply because it is on sale longer, or are we alienated by these cynical crude marketing strategies.
Listening to the countless moans and groans as other shoppers passed by, I say that this exercise has backfired big time. One lady queuing up suggested raising a petition or boycotting the shop and from the sheepish looks from the poor staff who have obviously taken the brunt of the protest from customers, you could clearly tell that this wasn't the first time they had heard such comments.
One staff member said the cards had been out for about three weeks now and that some customers had taken their frustration out on them, which is both unfair and unwarranted.
I would honestly employ those in head office to resist temptation and start listening to your customers because we don’t want this.
