Sittingbourne and Milton Sea Cadets (TS Wyvern)

Home / Things to do / Sea Cadets / Sittingbourne and Milton Sea Cadets (TS Wyvern)
Sittingbourne and Milton Sea Cadets (TS Wyvern) has given thousands of young people a unique experience over 5 decades. Helping them to develop their potential and become good citizens through a wide range of activities and opportunities from Sailing, Canoeing and Power Boating to Football, First Aid, cooking and stewarding, and Adventurous Training.

Sittingbourne Sea Cadets are local boys and girls aged 10 to 17 who are interested in learning maritime skills and traditions, in serving their community and in having serious fun with good friends.

Parade hours are Mondays from 7.15pm to 9.30pm and Wednesdays from 7.15pm to 9.30pm. Cadets also can elect to participate in training courses and outings during weekends and holidays.

The Sittingbourne Sea Cadet Unit is called Training Ship (TS) WYVERN, located in Crown Quay Lane, Sittingbourne, Kent ME10 2SN. This is our own unit and does not have to be shared with anyone else. We are fully equipped to carry out most Sea Cadet activities unlike other similar organisations.

TS WYVERN was founded in September 1943, being named after the Warship HMS WYVERN.
While the cadets pay a weekly subscription to help cover the cost of running the Unit, funding for the Unit is provided largely by donations, Grants and Legacies sponsors from the local community.

TS WYVERN invites young people who are interested in what we do to contact us and arrange for a visit during opening hours with their parents / carers. We are also looking for adult volunteers to help out as well, call us on 01795 439334 or email

The TS WYVERN Parent and Supporters' Association also helps raise funds for the Unit and also runs the Unit Mess. Those interested in helping to raise funds and otherwise lend a hand call us on 01795 439334 or email:

The ethos at TS Wyvern is "always be the best we can be. But remember to have fun too".

All our adult staff and supporters are unpaid volunteers who believe in the potential of young people to achieve their full potential and beyond. They are all vetted thoroughly through the CRB vetting scheme and are trained to a high standard in the delivery of the activities and training we offer.

The unit is a registered charity (313013) and is managed by a committee of volunteer trustees who provide the support for the Uniformed Staff to deliver what we do. We look forward to hearing from anyone who could offer us support with fundraising or as an adult volunteer.

The tradition of community - based Sea Cadet Units continues today with 400 across the UK each with charitable status enabling them to raise funds to meet their running costs. All Units are members of the Sea Cadet Corps and are governed by the national charity MSSC - the Marine Society & Sea Cadets.

We work partnership with the Royal Navy under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and receive corporate support from commercial shipping companies and the Maritime sector. Our core purpose is to celebrate Britain's maritime heritage and contribute to its future development by supporting young people as Sea Cadets
