The Historical Research Group of Sittingbourne (HRGS) organised a 21st Birthday Tea Party in the atrium of The Forum, Sittingbourne on Saturday 14th June 2025. HRGS volunteers have provided the community with a ’Doorway to Local History’ since it was formed in 2004.
Richard Emmett chair of HRGS told us
"The Deputy Mayor of Swale, Cllr Derek Carnell and his wife Pat, the Deputy Mayoress joined us. To cover the event proceedings, we were joined by Peter Flynn and team from 109.6 FM Sittingbourne Radio who helped capture details about the event. Along with Andy Hudson from Sittingbourne.me and Martin Goodhew from Historic Swale who both captured many images of the event."

"We were joined by so many members, volunteers, sponsors and friends, including members of the public who were just passing through the centre and wanted to find out what we do! Following a few words by Richard Emmett, the Chair of HRGS, the Deputy Mayor of Swale, Cllr Derek Carnell was invited to cut our special Birthday Cake which had been home baked and decorated by committee member Wendy Moss. It was a lovely afternoon with refreshments and music laid on by the committee. We were also pleased to share a piece of our birthday cake with many of our neighbours in The Forum."
"Some traditional games and a quiz were organised as entertainment along with displays of many of the projects and events that HRGS have been involved with over the proceeding 21 years."
