People supporting local good causes could win a Switch 2 gaming bundle, or up to £25,000, by buying tickets for Swale Borough Council’s community lottery.
The Swale Community Lottery gives people the chance to support their favourite local charities and non-profit organisations financially, while having the chance to win cash prizes each week.
The lottery is introducing a new monthly Super Draw - and for the first one - everyone who buys a ticket before Saturday 28 June will be in with the chance of winning a mega gaming bundle.
The bundle contains everything you need to enjoy Mario Kart World, and other games, on the new Nintendo Switch 2, including a 50” smart TV and other Switch accessories.
But if you don’t have any gamers in the family, you can also take a £1,000 cash alternative and spend it your way.
The 40 charities, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit groups of all shapes and sizes who have signed up to the lottery receive 50% of the proceeds from tickets they sell.
A further 10% from every ticket sale goes into a central fund which will be shared among other good causes through grants. The remainder goes towards prize funds and operating costs.
Thanks to the amazing support from residents, the charities that signed up to benefit from the lottery receive a monthly cash boost throughout the year.
And if this support continues, the lottery is set to raise a staggering £10,000 for local good causes in its first year.
The regular draws take place every week, and as well as the £25,000 jackpot, people could win prizes of £2,000, £250, £25 or more tickets.
Super draws take place on the last Saturday of each month, and you can buy extra tickets to “top-up” for super draw week – or if you don’t want weekly tickets, you can buy tickets just for the super draw.
Tickets for the lottery are available on the Swale CommunityLottery website and cost just £1.
Cllr Hannah Perkin, chair of the Housing, Health and Communities Committee, said:
“Charities often rely on donations from our residents to continue providing their invaluable services.
“We are grateful to be able to provide another fundraising tool which charities and non-profits can leverage to create a monthly income, while their supporters also get the chance to win some money and other prizes too.
“It may be small amounts each month for now, but as the community lottery grows so will their income, and we know that every penny counts!
“If you are able to - please support your favourite good cause through our lottery where you can also stand the chance to win up to £25,000 each week and the prizes from the monthly super draws.
“Even if you don’t win it big, you will have helped support the work that our incredible good causes undertake across Swale, or the central grant scheme we have planned.”
